Sheristan ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining a safe, respectful digital environment. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Sheristan mobile application (the "App").
By accessing or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Authentication Data
To create and manage your user account, we collect certain personal information when you authenticate using third-party sign-in services:
- Google OAuth: Name, email address, and profile picture
- Facebook OAuth: Name, email address, and profile picture
This information is used solely for authentication and profile management within the App.
1.2 Media & Storage
User profile pictures and any user-uploaded media are securely stored using Cloudinary, a third-party cloud media management service. We store only the data necessary to provide App functionality.
1.3 Automatically Collected Data
When you use the App, we may automatically collect technical and usage information, including:
- Device type and operating system
- Internet Protocol (IP) address
- App usage statistics
- Crash logs and diagnostic data (to improve app stability and performance)
1.4 Advertising Data
Sheristan displays advertisements through third-party advertising partners such as Google AdMob. These services may collect advertising identifiers, device information, and interaction data to deliver relevant advertisements in accordance with their privacy policies.
2. Zero-Tolerance Policy: User Conduct & Content
We are committed to preserving the integrity of Urdu and Hindi literature and maintaining a safe, respectful community.
Users are strictly prohibited from posting, uploading, or sharing content that includes:
- Hate Speech & Harassment: Content promoting discrimination, hatred, or violence against individuals or groups
- NSFW & Explicit Content: Nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit or suggestive content
- Abusive Language: Profanity, bullying, threats, or harassment
- Misinformation & False Attribution: Fake information or incorrect attribution of literary work
Enforcement: We reserve the right to review, moderate, or remove user-generated content. Violations may result in content removal, suspension, or permanent termination of the user account without prior notice.

4. Third-Party Services
Sheristan uses third-party services governed by their own privacy policies:

5. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable security measures, including encryption of data in transit. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services.
User Rights: You may request deletion of your account and data.
How to Delete: Users may delete their account directly from the Edit Profile section of the App. Upon deletion, personal data is removed from active systems.
7. Children’s Privacy
Sheristan does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If such information is discovered, it will be deleted immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.

10. Requests from Public Authorities
We review the legality of all requests from public authorities for user data. We reserve the right to challenge requests that are unlawful or overly broad. When disclosure is legally required, we follow a data minimization policy to provide only the information necessary.
